When Google Messages takes over, it carries your SMS and MMS across automatically, but it often leaves your Samsung RCS chats behind: years of conversations, photos, and videos that were sent as chat messages. Now that Samsung Messages is retired, those RCS chats can be left with nowhere to go, and a reset or a new phone erases them for good.
Migrate Samsung Messages into Google Messages
Textuoso writes your Samsung RCS chats back as standard SMS and MMS, so they land right inside Google Messages (or whatever app you use), conversations and attachments intact, on your current phone or a brand-new one.
And you can bring over just your RCS chats. You don’t have to wipe your phone and reload your entire message history the way a full backup-and-restore does. Textuoso merges the RCS chats in alongside everything Google already moved for you, and skips duplicates.
Two ways to do it
- Back up, then restore. Make a backup of the phone that still has the Samsung Messages history, then restore that backup, to the same phone or a new one. The Samsung RCS chats come back as ordinary SMS and MMS, so they appear in Google Messages.
- Or add just the missing ones. Connect the phone to the web app and choose Edit → Add missing messages to Google Messages. Textuoso finds the messages that live only in Samsung RCS, leaves everything Google already moved alone, and shows you exactly what it found. Then choose Phone → Restore to phone, and on the phone open the Restore tab, pick the Textuoso Web restore point, prepare it, and press Restore using the Merge option. They are added alongside your existing messages, duplicates skipped.
